Plan your cat's aftercare quietly, on your own terms

Cats in England live to a median of 14.0 years[1], which gives most families time to think ahead. This worksheet turns that time into a short, shareable plan.

  • Covers fur, paw prints and multi-cat ID
  • Compares two quotes in one currency
  • Stays private until you copy or send it

What should I record before contacting the team?

Cat Cremation Services uses this worksheet to prepare worldwide inquiries. Your entries stay in this page’s memory until you copy, download or open an email draft. Reloading clears the fields. Record the requested outcome and location, leaving unresolved choices as questions and sensitive medical or personal details out of a shared copy.

0 of 6 fields have an entry. This is a completion count, not a safety score or booking approval.

How do I compare two itemized quotes?

Cat Cremation Services compares your entered amounts for worldwide inquiries; it does not supply market prices. Use two written quotes in one currency, counting each charge once. Leave unknown amounts blank and use zero only for confirmed inclusions or no charge. Put taxes and other separate charges in the final row.

The tool adds your entries. It does not estimate prices, recommend a provider or establish that two service definitions are equivalent.

How can I keep and share my planning record?

Cat Cremation Services lets you keep this worldwide planning record with your answers, selected source and entered quote amounts. Copying or downloading creates a copy you control. Opening an email draft lets you review the text in your email app before sending; none of these actions automatically submits an inquiry.

Clear entries removes all worksheet fields, including quote amounts and currency. It does not delete a copy you already saved or an email draft.

Why bother

Why cat owners benefit from a plan made early

Cats are experts at hiding illness. Many owners describe a cat who seemed fine last week and is suddenly very unwell today. When that happens, decisions about cremation, keepsakes and cost land in the same afternoon as the medical news. A plan written in a calmer month takes some of that weight off.

Cats also live a long time. US cats seen at Banfield clinics have a life expectancy at birth of 11.18 years[2], according to a peer-reviewed analysis of their records, and plenty live well past that. If your cat has reached double digits, a short plan is a kindness to your future self. The pet age calculator converts your cat's age into human years.

93.0%[3]

Of UK diabetic cats that died within three years of diagnosis, this share were euthanized, many soon after. Chronic illness often means a goodbye you can plan.

Filling it in

What to write in each field of the cat worksheet

Choose your country and type your city and region; no street address is needed. If you haven't decided which question matters most, the cat planning quiz picks one for you. Then the six fields:

  • Cat's name and where they are now. At home, at your regular vet, or at an emergency clinic.
  • Vet release contact. The clinic's name and the person or desk who can hand your cat over, plus their opening hours.
  • Private or communal. Whether you want your own cat's ashes back. If you're unsure, write the question.
  • Fur or paw impression. What you'd like taken, and who will ask for it. By our estimate, a paw-print add-on at a US crematory costs ~$32[4] at the median.
  • Separate ID in a multi-cat loss. If more than one cat has died, note each name so they're never mixed up.
  • Family contact for the ashes. One person, one address, one phone number.

A counter below the fields shows how many you've filled. It's just a count, not a score, and blank fields are fine. The saved copy will say "to confirm" beside them.

Checking the price

How to compare two cat cremation quotes honestly

The quote table has five rows: collection, individual return, container and personalization, impressions or fur keepsakes, and taxes or other charges. Type each price once, in the same currency for both quotes. Leave boxes blank when a price wasn't mentioned; zero means confirmed as included.

For context, US cat cremation averages about $180[5], and UK large vet groups' median for an individual cat cremation averages GBP 186.87[6]. The UK competition regulator found those group prices ran well above independent practices, which charged a median of about £128 for cats[7]. The lesson travels: the price your vet quotes isn't the only price available, and a second quote is worth ten minutes.

Where your cat plan should live

Press Copy my plan to paste it into a note or message, Download my plan to save a text file, or Open email draft to start an email to us for quotes. In that draft you can change the address to your own or a family member's instead; nothing sends until you press send.

  • Email it to whoever feeds the cat when you're away. Pet sitters are sometimes the ones who find a cat unwell.
  • Print it for the vet file. At your cat's next senior check-up, ask which crematory the clinic uses and whether they can take a paw print.
  • Share it with a partner or older child. It's easier to agree on paper than in the moment.

For cat families

Cat-specific details worth adding to your plan

  1. Keep a lock of fur now. Brush your cat and save a little fur in an envelope. It costs nothing and removes the time pressure.
  2. Decide about the other cats. Note whether you'd like surviving cats to see the one who died.
  3. Choose what goes with them. A small blanket or a note usually can; a plastic toy usually can't.
  4. Think small for the urn. Cat ashes fit in a compact vessel. The urn size calculator gives a size in cubic inches.

Questions people ask

What's the most important thing to write in a cat aftercare plan?

Whether you want your cat's own ashes back, and any keepsake you'd like taken first. Those two answers decide the type of cremation and whether someone needs to act before your cat leaves home or the clinic. Everything else can be sorted out later.

My cat is at the vet. Can I still ask for a fur clipping?

Usually, yes, if you ask before your cat is collected for cremation. Call the clinic, ask them to note the request on your cat's record, and check who will actually take the clipping. Write their name in your plan so there's no confusion later.

Does the worksheet store my cat's details?

No. The entries exist only in the open page and vanish when you reload or press Clear entries. Copy, download or email the plan if you want to keep it. A copy you've already saved isn't affected when you clear the page.

Why compare quotes if my vet already has a crematory?

Your vet's arrangement may be exactly right, but it's worth knowing the price and what it includes. The UK's competition regulator found most owners never compared providers and many didn't recall being told the price. A second written quote simply confirms you're comfortable.

Can I plan aftercare for a cat I share with a neighbor or ex-partner?

Yes, and it's especially useful. Use the release contact field to name who can approve collection and the ash-return field to note who receives them. Sharing the downloaded plan with the other person now avoids a disagreement at a painful time.
