Burial, ashes and the rules in Central
One rule matters more than any other if your cat bit or scratched someone in the last couple of weeks, or died after sudden changes in behavior: tell your vet before anything else. Where rabies occurs, public health rules may require testing, and that has to happen before cremation. - If you find your cat outdoors, take a box, a towel and a pair of gloves with you. Ease them onto the towel, then carry them back to the house or the car.
- If you're not sure the cat is yours, or someone nearby found them, any vet can check for a microchip. It takes a clinic only a minute or two.
- Keep your cat in a cool, closed room at home until you've spoken to your vet or a crematory that serves Central.
- Ask for private or communal cremation and the full price, including collection or drop-off.
- Update the microchip record and tell anyone who helped you look for your cat, so they can stop searching.

Can a vet come to my home to put my cat to sleep anywhere in Central?
