When cremation is as routine as it is in Florida (roughly 72.5%[3] of human funerals), the risk is assuming rather than asking. A busy clinic may note "cremation" without saying which kind. Say the words you mean, private with ashes returned or communal without, and ask for them on the form. It's a two-minute check that prevents a mistake nobody can fix later.

Most of the decisions after a cat dies are yours alone. The exceptions are burial and scattering, which Florida and your local council or city may regulate, and, in some places, updating your cat's microchip record so the database knows they've died.

The first 48 hours, step by step

Why does the Hernando page quote a human cremation rate?

There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Will I have to travel to Orlando to arrange things?
