Idaho is one of the places where cremation is the clear norm, at about 71.2%[3] for people, and for most cat owners it will feel like the natural choice too. Still, give it a moment's thought. Would you like to keep the ashes, scatter them in the garden your cat watched from the window, or bury them under a plant? What Idaho allows: burial, scattering and more
One rule matters more than any other if your cat bit or scratched someone in the last couple of weeks, or died after sudden changes in behavior: tell your vet before anything else. Where rabies occurs, public health rules may require testing, and that has to happen before cremation. In almost every other case, the rules below only come into play once you choose what to do with the ashes or the body.

What to do first, and what can wait
- If your cat dies at night, you don't need to call anyone until morning. Move your cat to a cool room and cover them with a towel.
- Put a towel or pad underneath. It's normal for a cat's bladder or bowels to release after death.
- Gently curl your cat into a sleeping position during the first hours, while the body is still soft. They'll fit the basket or box more easily, and they'll look more peaceful when you say goodbye.

Roughly how many cats die in Boise each year?
Our estimate is around 3,300. It comes from Boise's population (about 235,000), the average household size, the share of homes with a cat (about 36,500 households here) and the average lifespan. It is arithmetic, not a count, so read it as a rough floor.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Boise?

What's the difference between private and communal cremation for a cat?
In a private cremation your cat is cremated alone and every bit of ash returned is theirs. In a communal cremation several animals are cremated together and no ashes come back; they're usually scattered in a memorial garden. Some providers also offer partitioned cremation, where pets share the chamber with dividers. Private typically costs about 2.0x[8] the communal price.
How much ash will I get back from my cat?
