High cremation rates, about 72.5%[3] for people in Florida, often go hand in hand with pet crematories with viewing rooms and set farewell times. Many will let you stay while your cat is placed in the chamber, or wait on site and take the ashes home the same day. It costs a little more and needs booking, but for some owners, seeing it through is what lets them rest.

Burial and scattering rules for Florida
One rule matters more than any other if your cat bit or scratched someone in the last couple of weeks, or died after sudden changes in behavior: tell your vet before anything else. Where rabies occurs, public health rules may require testing, and that has to happen before cremation. In almost every other case, the rules below only come into play once you choose what to do with the ashes or the body.

What to do when your cat dies in Harmony

Where are the providers that serve Harmony actually based?
Some are local, and some run from Orlando, about 28 miles away. That is normal for a town this size. What matters is the collection time they quote for Harmony and whether the drive is priced into the total, so ask both up front.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Harmony?

What if my cat died outdoors or was hit by a car near Harmony?
Bring gloves, a towel and a box, lift your cat gently and take them home or straight to your vet. A vet can scan for a microchip if you're not sure it's your cat, and can arrange cremation from there. A private cremation is still entirely possible, and so is a proper goodbye; the circumstances don't change that. Take someone with you if you can.
Can I bury my cat in the garden in Florida?
In many places you can, with conditions such as depth, distance from water and owning the property. Rules vary within Florida, so check with your city or council before digging. Dig deep enough to keep foxes, coyotes and dogs away. If you rent or might move, cremation lets you keep your cat with you and bury the ashes later if you wish.
