Only about 49.27%[1] of people in Norway are cremated, so burial remains the local tradition, and for cats that often means a small grave in the garden. Pet cremation is still widely available, though, and many cat owners choose it because it lets them keep their cat close even if they move. Your vet will be used to both requests.

How do Norway attitudes to cremation compare?

Should my other cats see the cat who died?
Many owners let their other cats sniff and sit with the body for a few minutes before collection, and it does no harm. Some cats show interest, others walk away; both are normal. Afterwards, keep feeding and litter routines steady. If a remaining cat stops eating for more than a day or two, call your vet, as cats don't cope well with going without food.
What if my cat died outdoors or was hit by a car near Bergen?
Bring gloves, a towel and a box, lift your cat gently and take them home or straight to your vet.
