What's allowed in Ontario after your cat dies
A cat's ashes are treated very differently from a body: in most places you can keep them, move them between homes or across borders, or carry them on a plane if the container can be screened and the airline agrees. It helps to keep the crematory's certificate with the urn. Local rules bite on two things instead, a body in the ground and ashes on public land, and they're summarized for Ontario below.
Canada has more pet cats than dogs, about 8.2 million[6], and most cremations are arranged through the family vet, though crematories deal directly with owners too. Winter matters: in much of the country the ground is frozen for months, so many families cremate first and bury a cat's ashes in the garden in spring. Some SPCA branches offer bundled euthanasia and communal cremation for cats.

A simple checklist for the next two days
- If you find your cat outdoors, bring gloves, a towel and a box. Lift them gently onto the towel and carry them home or to your car.

How do Canada attitudes to cremation compare?

Which nearby towns can I compare with Brampton?

How much ash will I get back from my cat?

Can someone collect my cat from home in Brampton?
Yes. Most pet crematories and many vets in and around Brampton offer home collection, sometimes out of hours for an extra fee.
